What is a Family Medicine Physician?


A Family Physician is a doctor who specializes in treating the entire family. They provide care to everyone in the family from newborns to seniors. They complete three years of medical school education followed by three years of residency training. Upon completion of their training, they must take a rigorous exam to become board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Family Physicians are required to recertify every seven years by performing regular continuing medical education.




What is an Internal Medicine Physician?


An Internal Medicine Physician is a doctor who specializes in treating adults. They provide care to people in their late adolescence to seniors. They complete three years of medical school education followed by three years of residency training. Upon completion of their training, they must take a rigorous exam to become board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Internal Medicine Physicians are required to recertify every seven years by performing regular continuing medical education.




How do I schedule an appointment?`


To schedule an appointment, please contact one of our front office clerks at (520) 494-7778. You can also use our patient portal to request a non urgent appointment. .




What should I do if I can't make it to my appointment?


If you are unable to make it to your appointment, please call us at least twenty-four hours in advance to let us know and we can reschedule your appointment for a more convenient time. If you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours in advance you may be charged a late cancellation fee.




What happens if I miss my appointment?


If you miss your appointment and do not provide us with at least 24hr notification, you may be subject to a cancellation fee.




Do you take my insurance?


Agave Family Physicians contracts with most major insurance carriers. Please contact one of our front office clerks to find out if we accept your plan. If we do not contract with your carrier, we offer a discount for "self-pay" patients.




What happens if my insurance doesn't cover the cost of my visit?


As a convenience to you, Agave Family Physicians bills your insurance carrier directly. However, if your carrier does not cover the entire cost of the service, you are responsible for any balance due.




How do I get medication refills?


Please contact your pharmacy to request medication refills. If there are no refills remaining on your prescription, you may need to call or visit the clinic to get additional refills. In some cases, a visit with your doctor may be necessary before refills can be provided. We can not refill prescriptions after hours or on weekends. Prescription refills can take 72hrs, so we do ask that patients call before they run out of their medications.




If I need a referral to a specialist, how do I get one?


Some insurance plans do not require you to have a referral in order for you to see a specialist. If you are enrolled in such a plan, you may schedule an appointment with any specialist on your plan under most circumstances. If you would like to speak to your doctor to find out what specialist might be right for you, please call or visit the clinic. If your plan requires you to have a referral, you will need to schedule an appointment with your doctor.




How do I open PDF files?


Portable Document Format (PDF) files are a powerful way to share documents over the internet. The format was invented by Adobe Systems and a free PDF reader is available for both Apple and Microsoft compatible computers.




What is your policy on privacy?


This web site is designed for the convenience of our patients. We do not gather any information about visitors to our site nor do we save "cookies" on the computers of people who visit our site.
