



What is an Internal Medicine Physician? An Internal Medicine Physician is a doctor who specializes in treating adults. They provide care to people in their late adolescence to seniors. They complete three years of medical school education followed by three years of residency training. Upon completion of their training, they must take a rigorous exam to become board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Internal Medicine Physicians are required to recertify every seven years by performing regular continuing medical education. Top

What should I do if I can't make it to my appointment? If you are unable to make it to your appointment, we asked that you call us at least twenty-four hours in advance to let us know. We can reschedule your appointment at a more convenient time. Top
What happens if I miss my appointment? If you miss your appointment and do not provide us with at least twenty-four notification, you may be charged a twenty-five dollar fee before your appointment will be rescheduled. Top
Do you take my insurance? Agave Family Physicians contracts with several insurance carriers. These carriers are listed on the "Insurance" page of this site. If you do not see your carrier listed on that page, please contact our front office clerks to find out if your plan may have been added. If we do not contract with your carrier, you are welcome to visit our clinic but you will be responsible for the cost of the service. Top
What happens if my insurance doesn't cover the cost of my visit? As a convenience to our patients, Agave Family Physicians will bill your insurance carrier directly. However, if your carrier does not cover the entire cost of the service, you are responsible for the balance due. Top
How do I get medication refills? If you have refills remaining on your prescription, simply call or visit your pharmacy. However, if there are no refills remaining on your prescription, you will need to call or visit the clinic to get additional refills. In some cases, a visit with your doctor may be necessary before refills will be provided. We can not refill your prescriptions after hours or on weekends. Top
If I need a referral to a specialist, how do I get one? Some insurance plans do not require you to have a referral in order for you to see a specialist. If you are enrolled in such a plan, you may schedule an appointment with any specialist on your plan under most circumstances. If you would like to speak to your doctor to find out what specialist might be right for you, please call or visit the clinic. However, if your plan requires you to have a referral, you will need to schedule an appointment with your doctor. Top
